I remember from a friends family hearing so many stories about the lakota and their beliefs compared to mine being so close, I just loved it. My favorite is Arrow Boy, for some reason that stands out above all others.

It was my understanding that the Arrow Boy myth is from the Cheyenne people and not the Lakota. According to the legend, a boy was born after his mother was pregnant for four years. The mother died during birth and he was raised by a godmother. He did everything early like walking, talking, etc. He supposedly moved from a little boy to a young brave in no time. He proclaimed himself to be a shaman when he was still small during a council meeting. They ran him away. However, he did not give up and he ultimately became a hero to his people.

An interesting story. I wonder where the story originated? There are a lot of stories that seem to originate with what seems to be truth and then embellished quite a bit.
